The media and media industry influences their audiences in many different ways, one way is it's affect on the audience attitudes and beliefs. In class we the recently watched a film "Good Night and Good Luck" which was about broadcast journalism in the 1950’s in America, where the media was used to discredit Joseph McCarthy methods during the Red Scare. Reporter Edward Murrow used the television as a source of media to discredit McCarthy and discredit him he did. Which lead to McCarty's downfall as public figure. So the use of television can influence an audience attitude and beliefs dramatically. As I was writing this blog I began to think about how the media may play a role in the financial crisis. As I remember during the summer the media focus was on the election, once the nominee where selected it shifted to a crisis. In this time and age you've got to wonder is this a set up to put the next party in office trouble.
